The Uncertain Future of My Chemical Romance

10:52 AM by ~DaRk-EyE~

My Chemical Romance

The future of My Chemical Romance has been brought into question after a cryptic image appeared on one of the band’s websites.

The image, which displays a medical flatline accompanied by the message ‘00 BPM’, can be seen on the band’s Black Parade website.

Fans have begun to speculate whether The Black Parade era – which accompanied the band’s same-titled album and tour - has now ended.

Does this means that The Black Parade era is already over. Many fans are still wondering on the true meaning of this flat lines in their Black Parade Website.

As previously reported, the band are already understood to be recording to the follow-up to the LP, which is expected in 2008.

Let's just wait and see what the future brings for Gerard Way and the rest of the band.

Hawthorne Heights' Guitarist Died Of Accidental Mixture Of Medications

12:44 PM by ~DaRk-EyE~

Hawthorne Heights' Casey Calvert

Autopsy lists 'acute combined effects' of prescription medications and unspecified opiate, possibly Vicodin; expert says, 'This kind of death is one in several million.'

Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert died due to the "acute combined effects of opiate, citalopram and clonazepam intoxication," according to the results of an autopsy released Monday (December 17) by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Washington, D.C. He was found dead in the band's tour bus outside the 9:30 club in the city on November 24.

The autopsy listed Calvert's death as accidental, though a spokesperson for the chief medical examiner added that it was brought on due to "substance abuse." The opiate referred to in the report wasn't specified, but often, any drug that acts on cell receptors — including strong prescription pain relievers such as fentanyl or oxycodone — are referred to as "opiates" or sometimes "opoids." Both citalopram (also known by the brand name Celexa) and clonazepam (also known by the brand names Klonopin and Rivotril) are prescription drugs, the former an antidepressant and the latter used to treat seizure disorders and panic attacks.

A spokesperson for the medical examiner's office declined MTV News' request to elaborate on the results of the autopsy.

When MTV News spoke to Calvert's wife, Ashley, last month, she mentioned that he had suffered from depression but emphasized that "it was under control ... he was on medication for it, [but] nothing that he would abuse or anything like that."

"Something could've been wrong, he could've been in pain and he didn't want to tell anybody," she continued. "He always seemed completely healthy. I've known him for five years, and there's no way he was doing any kind of drug that would be considered illegal that a person could overdose on. I know my husband, and my husband wouldn't do that. He just wouldn't."

In the same interview, Calvert's bandmates stressed that the guitarist didn't abuse drugs at all, with frontman JT Woodruff saying, "We're in a rock band, and there's this stigma that comes along with it, and we don't do any of that stuff. If you asked anybody who's met us or toured with us, they'll tell you they've never seen us do that stuff. We concentrate on playing shows and having a good time, and so did Casey."

And on Monday, as news of the autopsy began to spread, drummer Eron Bucciarelli issued a statement reiterating that stance but acknowledging that Calvert had long battled depression, and that they had suspected that their guitarist had died from complications due to an "ever-changing array of medicines to get better."

"From the time of the incident, we suspected a possible drug interaction as the cause," the statement reads in part. "Casey wrestled with depression for as long as we knew him. He saw numerous doctors and took an ever-changing array of medicines to get better. He finally had his depression under control."

The statement also took issue with the medical examiner's spokesperson's use of the phrase "substance abuse," and the negative connotations it can carry.

"According to the toxicology report, the cause of death was due to a fatal interaction between depression meds, anxiety meds and an opiate ... Opiates being mentioned along with the term 'substance abuse,' coupled with 'rock star' stereotypes immediately conjure up images of hard drug use and addiction, which simply couldn't be further from the truth in Casey's instance," the statement continues. "What the toxicology report doesn't show is that prior to us leaving for tour, Casey had a root canal and was prescribed Vicodin for the pain. Once again, Casey was not involved in anything illegal, nor was he a substance abuser."

It's not immediately clear why Calvert was prescribed Vicodin, given that he was already taking clonazepam. Mixing Vicodin — an opiate — with clonazepam is "a known risk," though most doctors would not be aware of a patient taking any opiate unless that patient made it abundantly clear, according to Dr. John Mendelson, a pharmacologist at the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute.

"Most doctors will not get a urine toxicology as part their routine diagnosis, which is how you detect opiates," he told MTV News on Monday. "If you come to me and say you're anxious and depressed, we give you clonazepam and would caution [you] about doing some opiates. Over the years, there have been several overdoses caused by mixing an opiate with a drug of the benzodiazepine class, which clonazepam is. The mixture synergistically impairs your ability to manage your airway.

"It sounds to me like he took a few extra Vicodins on top of his clonazepam and lost the ability to manage his airway, perhaps choked on his own secretions," Mendelson continued. "And it's a risk to combine substantial opiate doses with benzo doses, but it's also a rare one. To be honest, it just may [have been] bad luck. ... It's exceedingly rare that 26-years-olds die of anything medical. This kind of death is one in several million."

Rock CD Reviews - Red Hot Chili Peppers: Stadium Arcadium Album

12:30 PM by ~DaRk-EyE~

red hot chili peppers, red hotRed Hot Chili Peppers

Stadium Arcadium is the ninth studio album by alternative rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on May 5, 2006 on Warner Bros. Records. It was a success for the band, selling 442,000 copies in the U.S. in its debut week and debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200. Singles from the album included "Dani California," "Snow ((Hey Oh))," and "Tell Me Baby." The album is notable for being the band's first studio double album; according to frontman Anthony Kiedis, Stadium Arcadium was originally scheduled to be a trilogy of albums each released six months apart, but was eventually condensed into a double album.
Stadium Arcadium was critically acclaimed both for showcasing a more mature lyrical style from that of the Chili Peppers' earlier albums, and for integrating musical styles from all aspects of the band's career. The album gained the band seven Grammy Awards in 2007: the most nominations that the band had garnered in their 24-year career. Kiedis attributed the album's success to less abrasive dynamics within the band, saying that the band's "chemistry when it comes to writing is better than ever. There was always a struggle to dominate lyrically. But we are now confident enough in who we are, so everybody feels more comfortable contributing more and more valuable, quality stuff."

Lyrics: Hump De Bump - Red Hot Chili Peppers

40 detectives this week

40 detectives strong
Takin' a stroll down Love Street
Strollin' is that so wrong
Can I get my co-defendant

Hump de bump doop bodu
Bump de hump doop bop
Hump de bump doop bodu

Bump de hump doop bodu
Hump de bump doop bop
Bump de hump doop bodu

Bump bump

Listen to me what I said
Try to get it through your head
A little bit of circumstance
A chance to make out

Livin' in a citadel
It's hard enough to be yourself
Waiting for the bell to toll
And I am wide awake now

Workin' the beat as we speak
Working the belle du monde
Believe in the havoc we wreak
Believin', is that so wrong
Can I get my co-dependent

Must have been a hundred miles
Any of a hundred styles
It's not about the smile you wear
But the way we make out

When I was an all aloner
Nothin' but a two-beach comber
Anybody seen the sky?
I'm wide awake now

Wait Is Over For Led Zeppelin Reunion Rock Concert

12:44 PM by ~DaRk-EyE~

The wait is over for Led Zeppelin's reunion tonight (Dec. 10) in London to headline a tribute concert to the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, in what has been billed as one of the most anticipated performances in years.

The scene at London's O2 Arena is already frenzied, with a 500-strong line for merchandise and huge waits at the will call windows. At a soundcheck on Sunday, select lucky fans were allowed to watch Zeppelin trying out such songs as "Good Times, Bad Times," "No Quarter" and "In My Time of Dying."

The three surviving members of the hugely successful 1970s group have rarely performed together since the 1980 the death of drummer John Bonham following a drinking binge.

By their own admission, each reunion has been a flop, so anticipation is high that the 90-minute set will get somewhere close to the heyday when they were considered by many to be the world's biggest rock band.

Singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones will be joined by Bonham's son Jason on the drums for the one-off comeback, although there has been fevered speculation that the gig may be followed by further live performances.

"Let's just do the O2 and we'll see what happens from there," 63-year-old Page told Reuters in a recent interview. "I haven't got a crystal ball here and nor have you."

When organizers announced the concert, also featuring the Who's Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings and Paul Rodgers, among others, the Web site selling tickets crashed as more than a million people rushed for about 20,000 seats.

One man from Scotland entered a charity auction last month and paid $170,000 for a pair of tickets to the show. Fans from around the world selected by lottery began arriving in London several days ago to collect their tickets.

"We turned up on Saturday, but we were told to come back the next day as we would still be at the front of the queue," said David Beesmer, 42, a businessman from New York who spent more than $7,000 on his ticket and trip.

Net profits from the concert will go to the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund, which provides scholarships for gifted children.

All the Right Reasons is the fifth studio album by the Canadian Rock band Nickelback, released on October 4, 2005. It is the first album without the original drummer Ryan Vikedal and the first to feature his replacement, Daniel Adair. All lyrics were written by Chad Kroeger and all the music is by Nickelback, except for the bonus track "We Will Rock You".

The album was the third straight No. 1 album for the band in their native Canada selling more than 60,000 copies in its first week topping their previous albums Silver Side Up and The Long Road which also hit No. 1, "Silver Side Up" opened with 43,000 copies and "The Long Road" with 45,000 copies. In the United States the album to date has sold over 6.2 million copies and was found again inside the top 10 of the Billboard 200 in its 99th, 100th, 101st, and 102nd weeks on the chart. The album had never been below #30 on the Billboard 200 in 110 weeks, making Nickelback the first act to have an album in the top thirty of the Billboard 200 for its first 100 weeks since Shania Twain's album, "Come on Over" stayed in the top thirty for 123 consecutive weeks following its release. Billboard Magazine called the album "the biggest rock album of the century so far."

In addition the album has spawned five top twenty Hot 100 singles in the U.S.,("Photograph", "Savin' Me", "Far Away", "If Everyone Cared", and "Rockstar"), making it one of only a handful of rock albums to ever produce five or more top twenty U.S. hits. "Photograph", "Far Away", and "Rockstar" were all top ten singles on the Hot 100, making Nickelback the first rock band of the 2000's to have three top ten hits from the same album.

The album was certified 7x Platinum in the U.S. in mid October 2007, surpassing the 6x Platinum certification of Silver Side Up.

Lyrics: Rockstar - Nickelback

I'm through with standin' in line
To clubs I'll never get in
It's like the bottom of the ninth
And I'm never gonna win
This life hasn't turned out
Quite the way I want it to be
(Tell me what you want)

I want a brand new house
On an episode of Cribs
And a bathroom I can play baseball in
And a king size tub big enough
For ten plus me
(Yeah, so tell what you need)

I'll need a.. a credit card that's got no limit
And a big black jet with a bedroom in it
Gonna join the mile high club
At thirty-seven thousand feet
--(Been there done that)--

I want a new tour bus full of old guitars
My own star on Hollywood Boulevard
Somewhere between Cher and
James Dean is fine for me
(So how you gonna do it?)

I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fame
I'd even cut my hair and change my name

[CHORUS]
'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars
And live in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars
The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap
We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat
And we'll hang out in the coolest bars
In the VIP with the movie stars
Every good gold digger's
Gonna wind up there
Every Playboy bunny
With her bleach blonde hair
And well...

Hey, hey, I wanna be a rockstar
Hey, hey, I wanna be a rockstar

I wanna be great like Elvis without the tassels
Hire eight body guards that love to beat up assholes
Sign a couple autographs
So I can eat my meals for free
(I'll have the quesadilla, ha ha)

I think I'm gonna dress my ass
With the latest fashion
Get a front door key to the Playboy mansion
Gonna date a centerfold that loves to
Blow my money for me
[Rockstar lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

(So how you gonna do it?)

I'm gonna trade this life
For fortune and fame
I'd even cut my hair
And change my name

'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars and
Live in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars
The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap
We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat
And we'll hang out in the coolest bars
In the VIP with the movie stars
Every good gold digger's
Gonna wind up there
Every Playboy bunny
With her bleach blonde hair
And we'll hide out in the private rooms
With the latest dictionary of
Today's who's who
They'll get you anything
with that evil smile
Everybody's got a
Drug dealer on speed dial, well
Hey, hey, I wanna be a rockstar

I'm gonna sing those songs
That offend the censors
Gonna pop my pills
From a Pez dispenser

Get washed-up singers writing all my songs
Lip synch 'em every night so I don't get 'em wrong

Well we all just wanna be big rockstars
And live in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars
The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap
We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat
And we'll hang out in the coolest bars
In the VIP with the movie stars
Every good gold digger's
Gonna wind up there
Every Playboy bunny
With her bleach blond hair
And we'll hide out in the private rooms

Rock CD Reviews - Blink-182: Blink 182 Album

11:24 AM by ~DaRk-EyE~

blink-182, blink-182 pics, blink 182 images, blink-182 picturesBlink-182

Blink-182 is a self titled or untitled album, by the band of the same name and their last full-length record before an ongoing hiatus. Recorded under the working title of Use Your Erection I & II (a pun of Guns N' Roses' Use Your Illusion albums), the album was released through Geffen Records on November 18, 2003. The album includes guest vocals by The Cure's Robert Smith on the track "All of This". At almost 50 minutes long, it is Blink-182's longest studio album. It is said that this album represents a more "mature" Blink than been having seen in the past, such as not having the album contain any toilet humor or joke songs. It was somewhat of a departure from their previous musical atmosphere, the album was described as a "self-meditation on romantic decay."[citation needed] Mark Hoppus, the bassist for the band said in an interview with MTV Album Launch, that the desired effect of the album was for people to listen to it and say "Wait a minute...that's Blink-182?" The band infused experimentalist elements into their usual pop punk sound, inspired by lifestyle changes (Mark, Tom and Travis all became fathers before the album was released) and side-projects (Box Car Racer and Transplants). Despite having very high airplay from radio and music video channels, the album sold 313,000 copies in its first week debuting #3 on the charts in the United States, which was less than their previous album Take off Your Pants and Jacket, which sold more than 350,000 copies in its first week and topped the charts. It was also met with mixed reviews from critics and fans.

Lyrics: I Miss You - Blink-182

(I miss you miss you)
Hello there the angel from my nightmare
The shadow in backround of the morgue
The unsespecting victim of darkness in the valley
We can live like Jack and Sally if we want
Where you can always find me
And we'll have Halloween on Christmas
And in the night we'll wish this never ends
We'll wish this never end

Where are you and I'm so sorry
I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight
I need somebody and always
This sick strange darkness comes creeping on so haunting everytime
And as I stared I counted the webs from all the spiders
catching things and eating their insides
Like indecision to call you
And hear your voice of treason
Will you come home and stop this pain tonight
stop this pain tonight

Don't waste your time on me your already the voice inside my head(6x)

I miss you miss you(6x)

The Foo Fighters -- who picked up five Grammy nominations this morning (12/6)--have added new dates to both of their early 2008 adventures, a two-month North American tour followed by a run through Australia and New Zealand.

The North American trek keeps its previously announced kick-off date--Jan. 16 in Sunrise, FL--with the outing now stretched to 28 stops after the addition of shows in Reno, NV (2/1); Oakland, CA (2/2); Council Bluffs, IA (2/28); and Glendale, AZ (3/1). Dates are provided below.

The band also added several new appearances to its upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand, which launches in April following the domestic outing. The complete overseas itinerary can be found at the band's website.

The group is supporting its sixth studio effort, "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace," which debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 in September. The album, which reunites the band with Gil Norton, who produced the group's 1997 breakthrough, "The Colour and the Shape," nabbed five Grammy nominations, including one for Album of the Year.

Lead single "The Pretender"--which has spent 16 weeks in the No. 1 slot on Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart--grabbed nominations for Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Rock Song.

"Echoes" follows the band's 2005 platinum-selling double-album, "In Your Honor," which spawned the No. 1 mainstream- and modern-rock hit "Best of You" and led to the band's biggest-selling tour to date, according to a press release.

All Killer No Filler is the second album by Sum 41, released on May 8, 2001 (see 2001 in music). The album was eventually certified platinum, selling over 1 million copies. The album features lyrics with various subjects such as society, laziness, self-indulgence, relationships etc. On an episode of MTV Cribs featuring drummer Steve Jocz's house, frontman and guitarist Deryck Whibley said that the majority of the songs for All Killer No Filler were written in Steve's basement. The title may be a reference to the Jerry Lee Lewis album All Killer, No Filler: The Anthology.

As of 2006 the album has sold 1 million copies in USA and is 3x platinum in Canada, making it Sum 41's best selling album to date.

This is the second time "Summer" appeared on a Sum 41 album, the first being Half Hour of Power. The band planned to put the song on each of their albums as a joke, but scrapped the plan after All Killer No Filler.

Lyrics: In Too Deep - Sum 41

The faster were falling,
Were stopping and stalling.
Were running in circles again
Just as things were looking up
You said it wasnt good enough.
But still were trying one more time.

Maybe were just trying to hard.
When really its closer than it is too far

Cause Im in too deep, and Im trying to keep,
Up above in my head, instead of going under.
Cause Im in too deep, and Im trying to keep,
Up above in my head, instead of going under.
Instead of going under.

Seems like each time
Im with you I loose my mind,
Because Im bending over backwards to relate.
Its one thing to complain
But when youre driving me insane
Well then I think its time that we took a break.

Maybe were just trying to hard.
When really its closer than it is too far

Cause Im in too deep, and Im trying to keep,
Up above in my head, instead of going under.
Cause Im in too deep, and Im trying to keep,
Up above in my head, instead of going under.
Instead of going under.
Instead of going under.

I cant sit back and wonder why.
It took so long for this to die.
And I hate it when you fake it.
You cant hide it you might as well embrace it.
So believe me its not easy.
It seems that somethings telling me,

Cause Im in too deep, and Im trying to keep,
Up above in my head, instead of going under.
Cause Im in too deep, and Im trying to keep,
Up above in my head, instead of going under.
Instead of going under.
Instead of going under.

Instead of going under again.
Instead of going under.
Instead of going under again.
Instead of going under again.

Radiohead has confirmed 16 European summer concert dates for 2008, including an appearance at Denmark's giant Roskilde Festival.

The British alternative rock band's first confirmed concert for the year will take place June 7 at the Malahide in Dublin. The tour, announced today on Radiohead's official Web site, will roll on to France, Spain, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium and Germany.

Billboard broke the news in October that Radiohead would hit the road for an international tour in 2008 in support of its new release, "In Rainbows." Although today's news confirms only European dates, expect news in the coming weeks for appearances in the United States and elsewhere.

"America and other countries will be announced soon," Radiohead's manager Bryce Edge of Courtyard Management, tells Billboard, "but the details haven't been finalized yet. "

Edge wouldn't rule out plans for dates in far-flung markets such as Asia, Australia or even South Africa. "Its all pending," he continues. "It depends on how much touring the band wants to do. But we are looking at things outside of America and Europe."

Radiohead became the industry's biggest news story of the year when the group recorded "In Rainbows" independently, and issued it digitally through its official Web site on Oct. 10, allowing downloaders to name a price to own a virtual copy. That option will cease on Dec. 10, according to a post today on the band's site.

Lyrics: The Pretender - Foo Fighters

Keep you in the dark
You know they all pretend
Keep you in the dark
And so it all began

Send in your skeletons
Sing as their bones go marching in... again
The need you buried deep
The secrets that you keep are ever ready
Are you ready?
I'm finished making sense
Done pleading ignorance
That whole defense

Spinning infinity, boy
The wheel is spinning me
It's never-ending, never-ending
Same old story

What if I say you're not like the others?
What if I say you're not just another one in your place?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

What if I say you're not like the others?
What if I say you're not just another one in your place?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

In time or so I'm told
I'm just another soul for sale... oh, well
The page is out of print
We are not permanent
We're temporary, temporary
Same old story

What if I say you're not like the others?
What if I say you're not just another one in your place?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

What if I say you're not like the others?
What if I say you're not just another one in your place?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

I'm the voice inside your head
You refuse to hear
I'm the face that you have to face
Mirrored in your stare
I'm what's left, I'm what's right
I'm the enemy
I'm the hand that will take you down
Bring you to your knees

So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?

Keep you in the dark
You know they all pretend

What if I say you're not like the others?
What if I say you're not just another one in your place?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

What if I say you're not like the others?
What if I say you're not just another one in your place?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

What if I say you're not like the others?
(Keep you in the dark)
What if I say you're not just another one in your place?
(You know they all... pretend)
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

What if I say you're not like the others?
(Keep you in the dark)
What if I say you're not just another one in your place?
(You know they all... pretend)
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?

After a rumor that Led Zeppelin and Metallica would headline the 2008 Bonnaroo festival caused an Internet frenzy in the past 48 hours, the event's promoters have spoken out to quash the reports.

"The rumors that are out there about the Bonnaroo 2008 headliners are inaccurate," Superfly Presents and A.C. Entertainment said in a statement released to Billboard.com. "We're very excited about the lineup that we're putting together for this year's festival. We'll be announcing the confirmed lineup toward the end of January/beginning of February.

The source of the Zeppelin/Metallica rumor was an anonymous email included last week in industry commentator Bob Lefsetz's newsletter.

Led Zeppelin will play its only planned show Dec. 10 in London as part of a tribute to late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue CD

8:06 AM by ~DaRk-EyE~

Yellowcard was formed in 1997 in Jacksonville, Florida after meeting at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. The band was made up of six members back then:
- Ben Dobson (1997 - 2000) : vocals
- Todd Clarry (1997 - 2001) : guitar, vocals
- Sean Mackin (1997 - present) : violin, vocals
- Warren Cooke (1997 - 2002) : bass
- Ben Harper (not the same as Ben Harper) (1997 - 2005): guitar
- Longineu W. Parsons III (1997 - present) : drums

The band released their first album, Midget Tossing, in 1997 but with not much success.

Around that time their lead singer was replaced by Ryan Key who convinced the band that they couldn't be successful in Florida, so they decided to move to Southern California.

The new group released their debut album, One for the Kids (Lobster Records), in 2001, and followed up with The Underdog EP (Fueled by Ramen Records) in 2002.

Yellowcard signed with Capitol Records in 2003 and released Ocean Avenue, which is their most successful album to date.

Soon after, bassist Alex Lewis was let go by the band. Pete Mosely who had produced and played bass on most of the songs on Ocean Avenue took over on bass.

The Yellowcard popularity "skyrocketed" after this period, with a song from their Ocean Avenue Album, "Breathing" appearing on EA Games' famed title, Burnout 3: Takedown in the winter of 2004. The song was very popular among users of the game, which had previously been owned by the British company Criterion, but had been acquired by EA. People from across the world began to sample the Yellowcard fanaticism that people had over the times previous.

The albumLights and Sounds was released in January 2006. The title track, Lights and Sounds, was the first single released off the album. It is also featured on the game Burnout Revenge. The whole album is based on a concept theme with many songs expressing their dislike for Los Angeles. Lights and Sounds also features a special guest appearance of Dixie Chick Natalie Maines on How I Go.

In 2005 the guitarist Ben Harper left the band due to disputes. He chose to work with his record label TAKEOVER RECORDS and has signed bands since his departure. He did do some guitar work for Lights and Sounds which is still in the songs on the album. He was replaced by Ryan Mendez (formerly of Staring Back) shortly before the Lights & Sounds tour began.

Paper Walls is their latest album released July 17th, 2007. Light Up the Sky is the first track released off this album.

Lyrics: Only One - Yellowcard

Broken this fragile thing now
And I can't, I can't pick up the pieces
And I've thrown my words all around
But I can't, I can't give you a reason
I feel so broken up (so broken up)
And I give up (I give up)
I just want to tell you so you know

(Chorus)
Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you
You are my only one
I let go, but there's just no one that gets me like you do
You are my only, my only one

Made my mistakes, let you down
And I can't, I can't hold on for too long
Ran my whole life in the ground
And I can't, I can't get up when you're gone

And something's breaking up (breaking up)
I feel like giving up (like giving up)
I won't walk out until you know

(Chorus)
Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you
You are my only one
I let go, but there's just no one that gets me like you do
You are my only my only one

(Music Intro)

Here i go
so dishonestly leave a note
for you my only one
and i know
you can see right through me
so let me go
and you will find someone

Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you
You are my only one
I let go, there's just no one...no one like you
You are my only my only one
My only one(x3)
You are my only my only one

Metallica & Led Zep - Bonnaroo Festival

6:20 AM by ~DaRk-EyE~

Led Zeppelin will play its first U.S. rock concert since July 24, 1977, this June at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn., according to an email published in industry commentator Bob Lefsetz's newsletter. The report also says Metallica will headline the event.

Speculation about additional shows for Zeppelin, which will play a stated one-off Dec. 10 in London in tribute to late Atlantic founder Ahmet Ertegun, has been buzzing for weeks.

A Bonnaroo spokesperson had no comment on the email. A Led Zeppelin spokesperson could not be reached at deadline.

Summer Zeppelin rock shows would reportedly conflict with a tour by frontman Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, which is presently being booked. However, Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has played at Bonnaroo on several occasions, most recently this summer when he jammed on his old band's songs with Ben Harper and the Roots' ?uestlove.

As for Metallica, Bonnaroo would likely provide a launching pad for the group's next rock album, expected sometime in 2008 via Elektra.

Rock Music History

10:18 AM by ~DaRk-EyE~

Origins of Rock

Essentially hybrid in origin, rock music includes elements of several black and white American music styles: black guitar-accompanied blues; black rhythm and blues, noted for saxophone solos; black and white gospel music; white country and western music; and the songs of white popular crooners and harmony groups. Emerging in 1954–55, rock music was initially referred to as “rock 'n' roll.” After 1964 it was simply called “rock music.” The change in terminology indicates both a continuity with and a break from the earlier period; rock music was no longer just for dancing. After 1964 the music was influenced by British groups such as the Beatles.

The 1950s—Bill Haley and Rock 'n' Roll

The first rock 'n' roll record to achieve national popularity was “Rock Around the Clock” made by Bill Haley and the Comets in 1955. Haley succeeded in creating a music that appealed to youth because of its exciting back beat, its urgent call to dance, and the action of its lyrics. The melody was clearly laid down by electric guitar; the lyrics were earthy and simple. Haley abruptly ended the ascendancy of the bland and sentimental ballads popular in the 1940s and early 50s. He also succeeded in translating black rhythm and blues into a form that adolescent white audiences could understand.

Blues, and rhythm and blues, were too adult, sexual, angry, and solely identified with black culture to be acceptable either emotionally or commercially without adaptation. Major record companies had for years been producing records for black audiences called “race records.” The emergence of rock 'n' roll signified a slight weakening in resistance to black culture. The unadulterated black rock 'n' roll that Haley transformed can be heard in the sexually adult work of such artists as Hank Ballard and the Midnighters (“Work with Me, Annie”) or “Big” Joe Turner (“Shake, Rattle, and Roll”), the latter song adapted by Haley for white audiences and the former transformed into “Dance with Me, Henry.”

Rock 'n' roll was for and about adolescents. Its lyrics articulated teenage problems: school, cars, summer vacation, parents, and, most important, young love. The primary instruments of early rock 'n' roll were guitar, bass, piano, drums, and saxophone. All aspects of the music—its heavy beat, loudness, self-absorbed lyrics, and raving delivery—indicated a teenage defiance of adult values and authority. Influential performers of the 1950s include Chuck Berry (“Johnny B. Goode”), Little Richard (“Good Golly Miss Molly”), Sam Cooke (“You Send Me”), Buddy Holly (“Peggy Sue”), Jerry Lee Lewis (“Great Balls of Fire”), and Carl Perkins (“Blue Suede Shoes”).

The Late 1950s and Early 60s—Elvis, Motown, and the British Invasion

The greatest exponent of rock 'n' roll from 1956 to 1963 was Elvis Presley, a truck driver and aspiring singer from Tupelo, Miss., whose plaintive, wailing, dynamic delivery and uninhibited sexuality appealed directly to young audiences while horrifying older people. As rock 'n' roll became a financial success, record companies that had considered it a fad began to search for new singers; they generally succeeded in commercializing the music, robbing it of much of its gutsy, rebellious quality. In the late 1950s, for example, there was a fad for sentimentally morbid songs such as “Laura” and “Teen Angel.”

At the turn of the decade Detroit became an important center for black singers, and a certain type of sound known as “Motown” [motor town], named for Motown Records, developed. The style is characterized by a lead singer singing an almost impressionistic melody story line to the accompaniment of elegant, tight, articulate harmonies of a backup group. Popular exponents of this style are the Temptations, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Diana Ross and the Supremes, and Gladys Knight and the Pips.

Rock music again surged to popularity in 1962 with the emergence of the Beatles, a group of four long-haired lads from Liverpool, England. They were initially acclaimed for their energy and appealing individual personalities rather than for any innovations in their music, which was derived from Berry and Presley. Their popularity inevitably produced other groups with unusual names. One of the most important of these was the Rolling Stones, whose music derived from the black blues tradition. These British bands instigated a return to the blues orientation of rock 'n' roll, albeit in ever louder and more electric reincarnations.

The Late 1960s and Early 70s—Rock's Golden Age

Folk Rock

An important transformation of rock occurred in 1965 at the Newport Folk Festival when Bob Dylan, noted as a composer and writer of poetic folk songs and songs of social protest like “Blowin' in the Wind,” appeared, playing electric guitar and backed by an electrified rock band. A synthesis of the folk revival and rock subsequently took place, with folk groups using rock arrangements and rock artists composing poetic lyrics for their songs (e.g., the Beatles' “Norwegian Wood,” “Eleanor Rigby”). The Byrds' arrangement of Dylan's “Mr. Tambourine Man” is a folk-rock classic. Performers like the Mamas and the Papas; Peter, Paul, and Mary; Donovan; and the Lovin Spoonful sang a kind of music designated “folk rock.”

Protest Songs and the Drug Culture

In the 1960s music mirrored the tensions of the Vietnam War era and played an important role in American culture. The verbal content of rock songs turned toward rebellion, social protest, sex, and, increasingly, drugs. Many groups, among them Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead, tried to approximate in music the aural experience of psychedelic drugs, producing long, repetitive, occasionally exquisite songs with surreal lyrics (known as “acid rock” or “hard rock”).

In 1967 the Beatles again made history with their album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which, in addition to including drug-oriented songs, presented a body of interrelated pieces that constituted an organic whole. This is considered the first “concept album.” Subsequent products of this trend were rock musicals such as Hair (1968) and rock operas like Tommy, composed and sung by the Who.

Rock Comes of Age

By the late 1960s rock was widely regarded as an important musical form. Musicians such as Miles Davis and John McLaughlin and groups like Traffic or Blood, Sweat, and Tears tried to fuse rock and jazz, while such disparate artists as Leonard Bernstein and Frank Zappa attempted to connect rock and classical music. Groups featuring virtuoso guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, and Jimmy Page continued to perform variations on classic blues themes using the traditional instruments of rock 'n' roll.

From 1967 onward, the rock festival was regarded as the ideal context in which to hear rock music, and thousands of fans attended. The most successful and peaceful rock festival, Woodstock, was held near Bethel, N.Y., in Aug., 1969. Later, however, a similar event, featuring the Rolling Stones, was held at Altamont, Calif., and was marked by several violent incidents caught on film, including a murder. By 1970 several of rock's top performers—Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and Jimi Hendrix—were dead from substance abuse. The dangerous, androgynous quality projected by the Rolling Stones was taken to extremes by performers such as Alice Cooper and David Bowie, who were perhaps as famous for their sexual ambiguity and outrageous behavior as for their music.

The Late 1970s to the Present—Punk Rock, the Music Video, and Middle-aged Rockers

A turning point in rock music occurred in the mid-1970s in the form of punk rock, which was a response to the stagnation of the genre and a nihilistic political statement. The music was filled with contempt for previous styles; its fast-tempoed songs, usually propelled by electric guitar, featured irreverant lyrics often obscured by the clangerous music. Evident in Great Britain, performed by such bands as the Sex Pistols and the Clash, punk also quickly became popular in the United States, played by the Ramones and other American groups. By the early 1980s, it had changed rock music considerably as Black Flag, the Dead Kennedys, and other groups adopted political protest themes as the core of their music.

During the 1980s music videos became a popular form of promotion and entertainment. In the late 1980s, however, several bands, including Nirvana and Pearl Jam, continued to follow the path of early punk rock by focusing on political themes and celebrating their own lack of technical virtuosity. Punk persisted into the 1990s with such bands as Green Day and the Offspring. Also in the 90s the continuing popularity of older bands, such as the Grateful Dead and the Rolling Stones, bore witness to the enduring appeal of this form among both the young and the increasingly middle-aged. The appeal of older and past rock bands was also evident in the fanfare surrounding the opening (1995) of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. Meanwhile, a young audience made rap music, with its pounding rhythms and strong, sometimes shocking spoken lyrics, a popular phenomenon, and other young rockers, largely club-goers, made the dance-based, electronically sophisticated techno another, though less pervasive, popular form.
